Volunteer Opportunities
Cashier
Two shifts are available for Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday.
Approximately 3 hours each shift either 9:45 am to 12:30 pm OR 12:15 pm to 3:00 pm.
Requires good customer service skills. Ability to have effective communication to speak clearly and listen attentively, be patient and empathetic, and demonstrate a positive and friendly attitude to create a pleasant and inclusive shopping experience for customers from all walks of life.
- Greet customers and assist with questions
- Ability to operate a cash register, credit card machine, and change register and credit card tape
- Accuracy in both electronic entry and manual counting
- Process sales
- Process incoming donations
- Answer phone
- Stock new inventory on the floor as it is priced
- Provide donation receipts
Donation Processor
Two shifts are available for Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday.
Approximately 3 hours each shift either 9:45 am to 12:30 pm OR 12:15 pm to 3:00 pm.
Requires the ability to maneuver within tight, often well-filled spaces, and to lift donation boxes or bags. Good customer service skills; ability to turn down a donation with a smile and explain why it can't be accepted.
- Process incoming donations to designated areas
- Follow the sorting room priorities and procedures
- Make decisions on acceptable and non-acceptable donations as necessary
Merchandiser and Pricing Specialist
Two shifts are available for Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday.
Approximately 3 hours each shift either 9:45 am to 12:30 pm OR 12:15 pm to 3:00 pm.
Requires the ability to maneuver within tight spaces and to lift donation boxes and bags.
- Hanging and pricing clothing items
- Pricing items
- Merchandiser: Hanging, folding, and placing merchandise on display floor
- Organizing displays
- Monthly inventory rotation
Thrift Store Laundry Facilitator
Two shifts are available for Wednesday, Thursday, or Saturday.
Approximately 3 hours each shift either 9:45 am to 12:30 pm OR 12:15 pm to 3:00 pm.
This task is really important so that we can offer clean and fresh ready-to-go clothing. Requires ability to lift and maneuver loads of laundry and to reach above shoulder level.
- Sort like colors
- Follow special care instructions on particular garments
- Operate washer and dryer
- Hang clothes
- Organize garments
